Electric Umbrella Images
Electric Umbrella Images is a premier photography and production studio based in the heart of downtown Saskatoon. Since its founding in 2012, the studio has grown into a creative hub for professional visual storytelling, offering high-quality photography and videography services to both individual and corporate clients across a broad range of industries.
The studio is led by founder Liam Richards, an award-winning photographer and videographer with over two decades of experience. Liam began his career in commercial photography and photojournalism in 2001 while pursuing a degree in Studio Art and Art History at the University of Saskatchewan. His work has been published in major newspapers and magazines worldwide, and he is particularly known for his ethical, community-focused approach to visual storytelling. In 2018, he received national recognition for his contribution to The Canadian Press’s award-winning team coverage of the Humboldt Broncos bus tragedy in the Breaking News category.
Liam’s longstanding passion for sports photography began during his time at the University of Saskatchewan’s student newspaper, The Sheaf, and continues to drive much of Electric Umbrella’s work today. The studio proudly serves as the official photography and videography team for the Saskatchewan Roughriders, the U of S Huskies, and the Saskatchewan Rattlers.
Beyond the sports world, Electric Umbrella Images is a trusted visual partner for corporate, editorial, and tourism clients. The team has extensive experience working in diverse environments, from underground mining sites to studio settings, delivering compelling visuals for major companies such as Cameco, Campotex, SSR Mining, and 9 Mile Legacy. Their portfolio also includes work with Discovery Saskatoon, Tourism Saskatchewan, Wanuskewin Heritage Park, and the Shellbrook & Districts Chamber of Commerce, among others.
Driven by a commitment to creativity, collaboration, inclusion, and storytelling, Electric Umbrella Images continues to seek meaningful partnerships and new visual challenges. Whether on the frontlines of breaking news, on the sidelines of major sporting events, or behind the scenes of corporate campaigns, the team remains dedicated to producing images that inform, inspire, and connect.
